Founder of Backstage Capital makes Philly stop to empower 1,000 Black millionaires.

Arlan Hamilton, founder of Backstage Capital, is visiting Philadelphia to promote her new book titled “Your First Million: Why You Don’t Have to Be Born into a Legacy of Wealth to Leave One Behind.” The book focuses on Hamilton’s mission to create 1,000 Black millionaires through entrepreneurship. In the book, Hamilton emphasizes that successful entrepreneurs can come from anywhere and that geography should not be a limiting factor. Backstage Capital, founded in 2015, has raised over $20 million and invested in over 200 startups founded by women, people of color, and LGBTQ individuals. Hamilton’s book tour stop at Harriet’s Bookshop aims to offer a different perspective to the traditional business book release. Hamilton is also hosting a conference called “Your First Million Live,” which will take place in Los Angeles in April. The conference features high-profile speakers and aims to create a space for like-minded individuals. Hamilton has been pleasantly surprised by the positive response from early readers of her book and is excited for its release.
