The Players Fund, an athlete-led venture capital firm, has welcomed several new partners. Confirmed names include former Olympic gold medallists Jessica Ennis-Hill and Allyson Felix, England soccer players Nikita Parris and Danielle Carter, and retired Lionesses striker Eni Aluko.

The Players Fund was initially launched in August with backing from England men’s cricketers such as Ben Stokes, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler, and Jofra Archer. Other founding partners include Indian cricketer KL Rahul and soccer players Chris Smalling, Hector Bellerin, and Serge Gnabry.

These new additions to the partner team mark a significant step towards widening the firm’s outreach and capabilities in promoting venture capital and entrepreneurship among women, particularly in the sports industry. The new partners will be instrumental in educating and preparing future female athlete investors.

Fergus Bell, managing partner of The Players Fund, expressed his excitement at the announcement, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome these groundbreaking athletes to The Players Fund. Their expertise takes us one step closer to our goal of creating the foremost athlete investor network. This remarkable group has the power to support founders and spark meaningful change in the athlete community and beyond.”

The Players Fund’s latest partners are geared towards enhancing the firm’s efforts in connecting with female athletes as investors and entrepreneurs in sports and business.
