US VC Funding Plummets, India Shines: Q1 Report

TLDR:

  • US VC funding deals fell by 49% in Q1
  • India bucks the trend with flat deals at 640

The first quarter of 2024 saw a significant decline in venture capital funding deals globally, with the US experiencing a 49% decrease in the number of deals and a 35.7% decrease in total value. Despite this decrease, the US maintained its dominance in the global VC funding landscape. In contrast, India reported stable deal volume at around 640 in Q1 2023 and Q1 2024. The Asia-Pacific region also experienced a general decline in the number of deals. Notable venture funding deals in the US during Q1 2024 included investments in companies like Wonder, FigureAI, and Mirador Therapeutics. Looking ahead, despite challenges, the VC landscape shows potential for growth and transformative deals in the remainder of the year.
