Trill Impact raises €90m, closing successful venture fund

The Swedish impact investor Trill Impact has successfully closed its first venture fund after raising €90m. The fund, which is aimed at backing innovative companies focused on solving future health and environmental challenges, secured backing from institutional investors across Europe. Nordic financial services group Nordea and Swedish state-owned venture capitalist Saminvest were the biggest investors in the fund.

Johanna Levander, partner and head of investor relations at Trill Impact Advisory, highlighted the challenging fundraising environment for venture capital, making the completion of this fundraise a significant accomplishment. Trill Impact has raised a total of €1.3bn since its inception in 2019, investing in impact private equity, impact ventures, and microfinance.

The fund has already invested in a variety of life sciences and green tech companies that have shown progress in clinical trials and market developments. Moving forward, Trill Impact plans to continue making minority investments in mid- to late-stage companies across Europe to support the development of globally successful products.

Partners at Trill Impact Advisory, Nina Rawal and Alexander Domin, described the closing of the fund as a milestone for the company, presenting an opportunity to invest in transformative technologies that can address global climate and health challenges. Portfolio companies of the fund include Open Cosmos, Cinclus Pharma, and MinervaX, all working on innovative solutions in their respective fields.
