The new fund brings the firm’s total assets under management (AUM) to $750m and will enable the firm to invest in the next generation of companies across its core focus areas of financial and real estate technology, cybersecurity, cloud, and AI infrastructure. Thomvest Ventures has been investing in entrepreneurs for over 25 years and has made over 75 investments in early and growth stage start-ups. The firm’s investments have included companies such as LendingClub, SoFi and Skyhigh Networks. The firm’s current Managing Director, Don Butler, said “The combination of the current downturn in venture and the opportunities that AI enables make this the right time to be investing in the next generation of leaders in our focus areas.” As part of the new fund, Thomvest Ventures has promoted two investors, Umesh Padval and Nima Wedlake, to the role of Managing Director. Padval will lead the firm’s investments in cybersecurity, cloud, and AI infrastructure, while Wedlake will lead the firm’s investments in real estate technology.
