Supporting Experts in Venture Capital for Life Science and Tech

Imperial College London and the Royal Academy of Engineering have partnered to create a new Science and Technology Venture Capital Fellowship targeting mid-level VC investors and related professionals in life science and deep tech ventures. The 12-month fellowship, delivered through Imperial Projects, aims to enhance investor capability in identifying and deploying capital into high-potential, scalable ventures. The programme, set to start in September 2024, will provide core instruction, experiential learning, and networking sessions through 20 intensive contact days spread across seven sessions. Participants will receive tailored teaching and industry insights to raise and manage life science or deep tech VC funds, as well as gain additional insights into emerging technologies critical to the UK’s future. The fellowship will also offer practical learning opportunities, mentorship, coaching, and networking connections in the science and technology VC investment landscape.

Through the Fellowship, Imperial and the Royal Academy of Engineering aim to develop a specialized talent pool capable of deploying risk capital into impactful ventures that address global challenges. The programme will support the UK’s ambition to lead in building life science and deep tech ventures that drive economic growth and create jobs. Ana Avaliani, Director of Enterprise at the Royal Academy of Engineering, noted that the Fellowship offers VCs the knowledge and connections needed to engage with the UK’s deep tech and life sciences sectors, paving the way for growth and innovation.
