Stellantis Boosts Lidar Tech Investments through Venture Fund

SteerLight is known for developing a new generation of high-performance LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensing technology that utilizes silicon photonics technology. This technology allows the SteerLight LiDAR to sense the surrounding environment in three dimensions with higher resolution and precision, all at a lower production cost compared to existing LiDAR systems.

The investment in SteerLight is part of Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 initiatives, aimed at identifying groundbreaking technologies that offer significant value to customers on a large scale. The technology has the potential to enhance the performance of advanced driver assistance systems in future Stellantis brand vehicles, including automated driving functionalities.

Stellantis Ventures, the venture fund through which the investment was made, has previously invested in 12 startups and a mobility fund, focusing on cutting-edge technologies. The financial terms of the investment in SteerLight were not disclosed.

Shares of Stellantis have seen a 23.5% increase year-to-date, positioning the company as one of the top performers in the automobile sector. The investment in SteerLight underscores Stellantis’ commitment to innovation and technology development in the automotive industry.
