Miami’s Startup Program Ignites with 200+ Local Visionaries in Action

TLDR:

  • The Built in Miami Startup Program, the largest startup incubator in Florida, has kicked off with over 200 local entrepreneurs.
  • The program is a free, in-person incubator for South Florida entrepreneurs to transform their startup idea into a launched product.

The Built in Miami Startup Program, provided by Venture Miami, has launched with over 200 local entrepreneurs in attendance. The program is an 18-week, free, non-equity stake, in-person incubator for South Florida entrepreneurs to transform their startup ideas into a launched product. The program consists of three pillars: systematic startup curriculum, local mentorship, and community engagement.

The program has a strong emphasis on in-person collaboration with two workshops per week where entrepreneurs learn a particular strategy and then apply it in class as mentors and instructors provide feedback. Additionally, there are two public showcase events: Prototype Pitch Day in April and Demo Day in June. The program will be held at Builders Collective, a community space in Wynwood developed by the Miami Hack Week organization.

The program has two progressive parts: Zero to One Sprint and P2P: Prototype to Product. Zero to One Sprint focuses on turning an idea into a validated, high-fidelity prototype, while P2P helps entrepreneurs transform those prototypes into minimum viable products. The program recruits local software developers, designers, and engineers to participate in P2P and helps both parties make co-founder and early team member connections.

Venture Miami piloted the first Built in Miami Startup Program in 2023 with over 100 local entrepreneurs. Many of the startups in the 2023 cohort have since gone on to raise funding and gain acceptance into premier accelerator programs. The program aims to launch more than 100 new tech startups in Miami this year.

Applications for the program are currently open and will close on February 16th. Public events like Prototype Pitch Day and Demo Day are also open to those looking to support the program.
