Investor Pollination’s $150 Million Fund Supports Climate and Nature startups

TLDR:

  • Pollination launches $150 million Climate and Nature Impact Venture Fund for Australian startups.
  • The fund will invest in companies focused on energy management, clean industries, transport, food and agriculture, carbon and nature management, and circular economy.

Climate-focused investment and advisory firm Pollination has announced the launch of the Climate and Nature Impact Venture Fund, with a target of $150 million. This fund will focus on investing in early-stage climate and nature solutions companies, particularly Australian startups. The fund aims to invest in companies working in areas such as energy management, clean industries, transport, food and agriculture, carbon and nature management, and circular economy. The investments are expected to be between $4 million to $12 million and will target Series A and B-stage companies. The fund has already received a commitment from government-owned investment manager Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC).

The new fund will be led and managed by Pollination’s global investment team, with a focus on accelerating the development of high-value solutions and connecting them early to global markets. According to Pollination CEO Martijn Wilder, this fund is the first of its kind in Australia to combine climate and nature solutions, aligning with the growing market demand to address climate and nature crises. Diana Callebaut, who joined the firm in 2022, will be leading Pollination’s investment business and working with Australian climate tech companies to drive innovation in sectors such as energy markets, carbon measurement, and land regeneration.

Pollination’s new fund will help close the funding gap for emerging climate technologies at the Series A and B stage in Queensland, supporting local innovators in addressing global challenges of climate change and nature preservation. This initiative is part of a broader movement towards sustainable finance and ESG investing, signaling a growing interest from investors and regulators in backing climate and nature solutions startups.
