TLDR:
- IIM Bangalore is getting a new Centre of Excellence – The Tony James Centre for Private Equity and Venture Capital
- Mathew Cyriac, an alumnus, is supporting the new PEVC centre as well as scholarships and classrooms
An alumnus of IIM Bangalore, Mathew Cyriac, is supporting the establishment of a new Centre of Excellence at the institute – The Tony James Centre for Private Equity and Venture Capital. The Executive Chairman of Florintree Advisors Pvt Ltd and a 1994 batch alumnus of IIM Bangalore, Cyriac has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the IIMB Dean Faculty for this initiative. The centre is named after Tony James, a prominent figure in Wall Street investment banking and former Blackstone executive.
Cyriac’s support extends to the creation of four new scholarships for IIMB’s PhD and MBA/Post Graduate Programme in Management students, as well as the establishment of four new classrooms in IIMB’s K Block. This generous contribution is the largest ever from an alumnus and is seen as a meaningful way of giving back to the alma mater.
The initiative has been lauded by IIMB Director Prof. Rishikesha Krishnan and Prof. Sourav Mukherji, Dean of Alumni Relations & Development. They hope that Cyriac’s example will inspire other alumni to collaborate with IIM Bangalore, positioning the centre as a global hub for private equity and venture capital.
