TLDR:
- Former 7Geese leaders secure $2.5 million CAD in seed funding for AI-powered performance management platform
- Topicflow plans to double its team and hit $1 million in annual recurring revenue within 12 to 18 months
Former leaders of 7Geese, Amin Palizban and Gavin Johnston, have secured $2.5 million CAD in seed funding for their new AI-powered performance management platform, Topicflow. The funding round was led by Founders’ Co-op with participation from Ascend and three undisclosed investors. The capital will be used to double Topicflow’s team from five to 10 employees as the company aims to reach $1 million in annual recurring revenue within 12 to 18 months.
Topicflow’s AI capabilities analyze meeting transcripts, organization goals, KPIs, and work activities to provide performance management solutions. The platform can assist managers in setting expectations, addressing performance risks, coaching employees, and gathering peer feedback. Topicflow integrates with HRIS, communication tools like Slack and Microsoft Teams, and work management tools like Jira, Asana, and Salesforce.
CEO Amin Palizban highlighted the importance of working with the same team from a previous startup, stating that it reduces the risk of team disintegration. Palizban also emphasized that Topicflow is “AI-native and built for the post-ChatGPT era,” distinguishing it from previous performance management systems.
Although Canadian investors initially deemed Topicflow too early for fundraising, the founding team’s experience and successful exit helped secure the round with US-based investors. Palizban noted that the Canadian investment landscape prefers safe investments with favorable terms, leading him to seek funding south of the border.
