D-Orbit, a space logistics company based in Italy, has raised €100m in Series C funding. The funding round was led by Marubeni Corp. and included participation from other investors such as Avantgarde and CDP VC. D-Orbit plans to use the funds to expand its space logistics services into in-orbit servicing and space cloud computing, as well as expand its capabilities in the U.S., Europe, and the United Kingdom.
D-Orbit, founded in 2011, is a global market leader in the space logistics and transportation service industries. The company has developed proprietary space logistics technology and transportation solutions to accelerate the growth and development of the space economy. It offers the ION Satellite Carrier, a vehicle that can transport satellites in orbit and release them into distinct orbital slots, as well as a proprietary cloud-based mission control software suite designed to control entire satellite constellations.
D-Orbit has already flown over 70 payloads and has launched 13 ION orbital transfer missions. Its customers include Spire Global, AAC Clyde Space, and Alba Orbital. The company is also developing and testing new technologies to extend the life of satellites in orbit and perform active debris removal.
This latest funding round will allow D-Orbit to continue expanding its services and capabilities. It will also help the company establish a stronger presence in the U.S., Europe, and the United Kingdom.
