Clean Energy Venture Fund Raises $300+ Million for Climate Tech

TLDR:

– Clean Energy Ventures has raised over $300 million for its climate tech venture fund.

– The fund aims to mitigate 75 gigatons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Climate tech-focused venture capital investor Clean Energy Ventures (CEV) has successfully raised $305 million for its second flagship fund, with a target to mitigate 75 gigatons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Established in 2017, CEV focuses on investing in companies that commercialize disruptive and capital-light advanced energy technologies to reshape global energy production and consumption. The firm’s investment criteria include the capability to mitigate at least 2.5 gigatons of CO2e emissions cumulatively between the initial investment and 2050, targeting areas such as mobility, renewable energy, carbon capture utilization and storage, energy storage, and critical minerals.

CEV has already invested in companies such as Noon Energy, Evari, Nitrofix, and OXCCU. With the launch of Fund II, CEV plans to expand its investment opportunities in North America and Europe, establishing offices in London to support the growth of its team and operations in Europe. The firm aims to bridge the funding gap for early-stage European companies in the rapidly growing climate tech sector, accelerating their path to market and contributing to global decarbonization efforts.

Overall, CEV’s successful fundraising highlights the increasing demand for climate investment opportunities globally and the firm’s commitment to investing in technologies that can deliver significant emissions reductions while generating strong financial returns.
