Amsterdam’s Carbon Equity Raises €60M, Grows Total Funding to €100M

TLDR:

  • Amsterdam-based Carbon Equity raised €60M for its Climate Tech Portfolio Fund III
  • The Dutch VC plans to invest in 7-10 climate technology venture capital and private equity funds

Amsterdam-based Carbon Equity, a climate venture capital, and private equity investment platform, recently announced the “strong first close” of its Climate Tech Portfolio Fund III, raising €60M. This fund, launched earlier in the year with a target of €125M, aims to invest in 7-10 of the world’s most exciting climate technology venture capital and private equity funds across Europe and the US. The Dutch VC secured funds from 160 high-net-worth investors, including prominent entrepreneurs and executives like Edmond Hilhorst and Coen van Oostrom. The investor plans to channel this capital into at least 150 tech companies focusing on climate technology, including green hydrogen, CO2-free cement, and battery and protein technologies.

This funding round follows Carbon Equity’s successful raise of €100M through its Climate Tech Portfolio Fund II just two months prior. The VC has now raised a total of €250M from 900 investors and has invested in over 120 tech companies, with €1.7B in sales so far. Founded by Jacqueline van den Ende and others, Carbon Equity allows regular investors to participate in climate venture capital and private equity funds with minimum investments as low as €100,000, and soon €10,000. The company aims to build a community of investors dedicated to combating climate change through their capital, offering access to leading climate funds and simplifying private equity and venture capital access.
