Josiane Ishimwe, who was previously an investment manager at Intel Capital, has joined the US Department of Commerce’s Chips Investment Office to make semiconductor investments. The initiative, launched in February last year, aims to support US-based semiconductor materials and manufacturing equipment producers.

In a LinkedIn post, Ishimwe expressed her excitement about starting a role that focuses on national and economic security by bringing semiconductor manufacturing back to the United States. She previously worked at venture capital firm RTP Global for two years, following more than three years at Intel Capital from 2018. During her time at Intel, she invested in companies like Immuta, Moderne, and Tetrate, which specialize in data security, code analytics automation, and app networking software respectively.
