Former DreamBox Learning CEO Joins VC; First Fed Hires Seattle Entrepreneur

Former CEO of DreamBox Learning, Jessie Woolley-Wilson, has joined Silicon Valley venture capital firm Owl Ventures as an operating partner. Woolley-Wilson brings over 13 years of experience from leading DreamBox, an education technology software company. Owl Ventures is a top firm in education technology and invested in DreamBox in 2015. Woolley-Wilson has previously held leadership roles with various education companies and is currently on the board of Owl Ventures portfolio companies Quizlet and Class Technologies.

In another move, David Edelstein, co-founder of Seattle fintech startup Level, has taken on the role of Chief Innovation Officer at First Fed, a local community bank based in Washington. Edelstein’s startup, Level, focused on offering credit services to independent contractors before recently exiting the business and closing several transactions. Edelstein has a background in various tech companies and organizations.

Other notable movements include Kurt Shintaffer, co-founder of Apptio, joining the board of Precanto; Kyle Munson, former marketing leader at Zillow Group and Flyhomes, becoming VP of Demand Generation at cybersecurity startup Huntress; and Portland-based Smarsh adding Okta executive Sagnik Nandy and former Janney Montgomery Scott executive Tim Scheve to its board.
