Shiprocket Cofounder Takes on Leadership Role at Tribe Capital India

TLDR: Shiprocket’s co-founder Vishesh Khurana to lead Tribe Capital’s first India fund

  • Vishesh Khurana, co-founder of Shiprocket, has been hired to lead Tribe Capital’s India-specific alternate investment fund.
  • The $1.6 billion fund aims to strengthen local presence and resources with an emphasis on local partners and capital.

The Silicon Valley venture capital firm, Tribe Capital, announced the appointment of Vishesh Khurana as the head of their $250 million India-specific AIF. Khurana, who co-founded logistics technology unicorn Shiprocket, is expected to lead the fund alongside Raj Snehil Juneja, a venture capital investor and founder of investment firms such as Disruptors Capital and First Unicorn Capital.

The move comes as Shiprocket is in advanced talks to raise $70-100 million, with a majority of the capital expected to come from Tribe Capital. The funding round aims to provide exits for early investors, with around 70% of the funding having a secondary component.

Tribe Capital’s co-founder, Arjun Sethi, highlighted the importance of expanding their investment footprint in the region through stronger local presence, local partners, and capital resources. This strategic move underscores the firm’s commitment to the Indian market and the potential for growth and opportunities in the region.
