EIT’s Supernova Initiative: Empowering Women in Startup Ecosystem

TLDR:

  • The EIT community has launched the Supernovas programme to address the lack of women in startups and venture capital.
  • The programme offers initiatives for women in both entrepreneurship and investment, including training programs, networking opportunities, and support for female-led startups.

The EIT community has launched the Supernovas programme in response to the lack of women in startups and venture capital. With only 2% of VC funding going to female-founded teams and women making up just 13% of venture capital partners, the gender gap in entrepreneurship and investment is undeniable. The Supernovas programme aims to attract women in STEAM fields and women investors, connecting them to form synergies and support networks.

The programme, launched in 2022, is made up of five projects, each with a specific goal in mind. For women in the VC space, initiatives include the Women Investment Network, the Data Room, Women2Invest, the Venture Capital Academy, and the Business Angels Academy. These programs provide training, networking opportunities, and support for women looking to enter or advance in the venture capital industry.

For women entrepreneurs, the Rocket Up programme supports women-led startups in their expansion across Europe, while the Women Leadership Programme aims to empower female leaders within the EIC and EIT ecosystems. Both initiatives offer training, networking events, business coaching, and mentoring opportunities to help women strengthen their skills and advance in their careers.
