Scaling Epicore Biosystems’ Personalized Hydration Wearable: Boosting Across Asia

TLDR:

  • Personalized hydration wearable company Epicore Biosystems has secured a strategic investment from Pegasus Tech Ventures and Denka Corporation to expand its products throughout Asia.
  • The company plans to use the funding to increase access to its Connected Hydration solution, which measures sweat loss, sodium loss, skin temperature and movement to provide real-time rehydration strategies.
  • The investment comes after recent trials with Japanese corporations in multiple sectors, showing the wearable technology is effective both indoors and outdoors.

Epicore Biosystems has secured an investment from Denka Corporation and Pegasus Tech Ventures in order to expand its personalized hydration wearable solutions throughout Asia. The funds will help the company reduce cases of heat stress and dehydration; areas where the company’s recently launched wearable products have demonstrated significant results.

There is currently limited adoption of wearable technology in Asia to monitor hydration levels, despite rising global temperatures and the increasing need to keep staff informed and safe when working at extreme temperatures. Prior to this development, many enterprises and athletes have had to rely on qualitative tracking of weather conditions to determine hydration needs, rather than gaining insights or alerts from wearables.

Epicore Biosystems’ Connected Hydration solution aims to address this gap in the market, with the recently received investment from Denka and Pegasus helping to make the solution available throughout Japan and Asia. “Exposure to heat has proven to be quite challenging to pin down, as every individual has different hydration needs that could vary depending on diet, sleep, stress, and physical exertion,” said Dr. Roozbeh Ghaffari, CEO and co-founder of Epicore Biosystems. “Alongside Denka and Pegasus, we are bringing our scientifically validated biowearable products to Asia to tackle the dehydration and extreme heat crisis with a single, unified biosensor and enterprise cloud for the first time.”

Connected Hydration consists of a wearable patch, a mobile application, and a cloud engine. The patch can track sweat and electrolyte loss, skin temperature, and motion, providing real-time, customized feedback in relation to fluid/electrolyte intake
