Silicon Valley Investors Trending Conservative: What’s Prompting the Change?

TLDR:

  • Some prominent Silicon Valley VCs, such as Marc Andreessen and Chamath Palihapitiya, are becoming more conservative and critical of President Biden.
  • David Sacks, a venture capital investor, has shifted his support towards former President Trump and is planning to host a fundraiser for him.

Some of Silicon Valley’s most well-known investors, including Marc Andreessen and Chamath Palihapitiya, are expressing disaffection towards President Biden and the Democratic Party. This shift towards conservatism has been driven by frustration with the current political landscape and has led some VCs to openly support former President Trump. David Sacks, for example, has changed his views and is planning a fundraiser for Mr. Trump, while also extending an invitation to President Biden.

Despite the growing support for more conservative views, not all Silicon Valley investors are aligned with this shift. Some, like Reid Hoffman and Vinod Khosla, remain loyal to the Democratic Party. The shift towards the right may be more symbolic than substantial in terms of actual support for a political candidate. It is clear, however, that some Silicon Valley VCs are moving away from their traditionally liberal stance and becoming more vocal about their conservative views.
