Philadelphia: Affordable Wealth Advice, Fundraising Milestone, DevOpsDays Prize Giveaway

TLDR:

  • WealthMore is a new tech platform in Philly that democratizes financial advice by providing access to wealth advisors and financial planning for young adults.
  • DevOpsDays Philly 2024 is back this May, catering to developers, operations engineers, and other tech professionals in the software development and delivery process.

In Philadelphia, WealthMore, a new tech platform founded by Mical Jeanlys-White, aims to democratize financial advice by providing access to wealth advisors and financial planning for young adults. The platform allows users to meet with wealth advisors one on one and join virtual communities to help them achieve their wealth goals. This initiative was sparked by Jeanlys-White’s experience as a first-generation American who saw a need for better access to information about investing for all demographics.

DevOpsDays Philly 2024 is set to return after a break, targeting developers, operations engineers, system administrators, QA engineers, security professionals, and others involved in the software development and delivery process. Technical.ly is raffling off three tickets to the event, each valued at $250. Interested participants can enter the raffle by following Technical.ly on a social media platform and submitting a screenshot as proof.

Additionally, news in the tech and entrepreneurship scene includes the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore after a container ship accident. The venture capital landscape post-pandemic has changed, making it harder to raise funds. US women founders broke records in 2023 by raising 27.8% of the total venture capital deal value. Health tech company Kith and Kin launched KinKeeper, a digital health wallet app meant to organize and share health information.

Various events are coming up in the tech community, such as Philly AI Connect’s first meeting on March 28, the Social Justice Hackathon community knowledge-sharing night on the same day, and WURD Radio’s Level Up Pitch Party Competition for Black women-owned businesses on April 2. Campus Philly’s Spring Career Event on April 2 will also provide an opportunity to meet fresh talent from local college students.
