New Release: Qatar’s Latest Venture Investment Updates by QDB

In collaboration with MAGNiTT research platform, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) released the fourth issue of its Qatar Venture Investment Report for 2023. The report aims to support Qatari entrepreneurs and enable informed investments in local SMEs. It provides insights into Qatar’s venture investment landscape, last year’s capital flows, especially in the tech sector. It showcased that Qatar has remained among the top five most active countries in the MENA region in 2023, accounting for 6% of total deals. QDB’s CEO, Mr. Abdul Rahman bin Hesham Al Sowaidi, emphasized the bank’s commitment to transparency and supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Qatar.

The report showed a total of 43 million Qatari riyals worth of venture capital investments in Qatar in 2023, contributing to 224 venture capital deals. Despite global challenges, Qatar maintained a 17% growth rate in investments and a 10% growth rate in deals over the past five years. The report also highlighted the top-performing industries in Qatar for venture capital flows, with manufacturing leading at 36%.

QDB raised their capital disbursement in 2023 by 95% compared to the prior year, leading to the creation of over 825 high-skill jobs. The report noted the bank’s various investment programs and initiatives to support the local economy and develop talent. Overall, the Qatar Venture Investment Report serves as a crucial tool for enhancing transparency and attracting new investors to Qatar’s private sector.
