State-by-State Surge in Venture Capital Funding

TLDR:

  • Wyoming and Idaho experienced the largest VC investment growth since 2012.
  • Wyoming showed the most rapid growth in VC funding, with a 58-fold increase from 2012 to 2022.

In a recent analysis conducted by Flippa using data from the National Science Foundation, it was found that Wyoming and Idaho experienced the largest growth in venture capital investment since 2012. Wyoming specifically showed the most rapid growth, with VC investment increasing from $10.8 million in 2012 to $792.6 million in 2022. This massive increase resulted in a nearly 58-fold rise in VC investment on a per-GDP basis. Neighboring Idaho came in second with a 20.8-fold increase, while Alaska ranked third with a 16.8-fold increase. The analysis also highlighted that these states tend to have fewer VC deals, which may contribute to their significant impact on GDP.
